Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Issuing, explaining library rules, and borrowing procedures.
- Recording information such as reports of lost or damaged items, requests for materials, and overdue materials and referring this information to Library Technician or Librarian.
- Contacts borrowers by telephoning or issuing overdue notices.
- Shelves books, magazines, and other materials under supervision of Library Technician or Librarian.
- Accesses and enters limited routine information in a few screens of automated database.
- Performs routine clerical duties such as referring callers or visitors to appropriate staff and assists Library Technician with processing duties such as labeling and stamping and preparing materials such as posters or book lists for events.
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired; however, candidates eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations.
- Must have the availability to work varying shifts and weekends as required (all shifts are on a two month rotation).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to frequently traverse stairs.
- Sitting for long periods, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
- Reaching, handling, and using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
- Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 40 lbs.
