Job Summary
The Library Administrative Assistant facilitates the smooth operation of the University Libraries’ administrative office while providing professional, welcoming, and knowledgeable support to library patrons. This position handles sensitive budget and personnel documents requiring a high degree of discretion and confidentiality. This includes managing the library budgets for McConnell Library and Radford University Carilion Library, maintaining financial records and facilitating purchases for each department. The position is also responsible for supervising the McConnell administrative office’s student assistants, as well as coordinating hiring for student assistants across McConnell departments.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent
Experience with bookkeeping/accounting principles and practices
Proficient with Mac/PC computers, Microsoft Office and other computer applications
Demonstrated strong communication skills, both oral and written
Demonstrated effective time management skills
Knowledge of general office practices
Additional Considerations
Database management, spreadsheets, Banner, EVA , COGNOS , or other office management software experience
Experience managing an executive or administrative office; experience in customer service.
Experience supervising student employees
