This vacancy is located at the Molokai Public Library in Kaunakakai.
Librarian II:
$4,339 per month (SR-18, Step D)
Librarian III:
$4,690 to $5,713 per month (SR-20, Step D to I)
Librarian IV:
$5,076 to $6,177 per month (SR-22, Step D to I)
Note:For the Librarian III and IV, hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Shift Work: Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings and weekends.Level II: Performs progressively responsible professional library work in order to gain competence as a professional librarian; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Level III: As a fully competent professional librarian, perform the full range of professional services in a service or functional area; generally serve as the librarian responsible for providing the full range of professional services within a particular service area; catalog and classify materials presenting the full range of cataloging problems; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Level IV: Plan and supervise the operation of a library; serve as a specialist for reference and materials, or cataloging and classification, in a subject field(s) or special collection(s); plan, coordinate and evaluate library services in a major service/functional area; provide specialized reference services and materials to departmental/program personnel; and perform other related duties as assigned.
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Education: A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university for all levels.
Professional Librarian Experience: Six months for level II, one and one-half years for level III, and two and one half years for level IV of progressively responsible professional experience in one or more major functional areas of librarianship (e.g., selection, acquisition, cataloging and classification of materials, collection development and maintenance, reference and readers' advisory services, or development and promotion of library services), which required the application of principles, practices, knowledge, theories and tools of library science. For level III & IV only, at least one year must be comparable to the Librarian III.
Master's Degree in Library Science: A master's degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university will be deemed to have met all the education and experience requirements for Librarian II & III.
For level II & III only: Applicants who are in their last semester and will graduate, and will meet the Minimum Qualification Requirements upon their graduation will be accepted for examination. If you are in the last semester and graduating with a Master of Library Science degree, please submit a copy of your official transcript of coursework completed thus far and a letter from your department head or registrar verifying your current enrollment in school, your expected graduation date and major with your application.
