Job Description
SMI is currently looking for an ACCP/ASNT SNT-TC-1A NDT Technician qualified and certifiable to Level II in Ultrasonic Shear-wave, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant disciplines, to support workload operations at our Brookshire Texas facility.
The Level II Technician will be performing equipment, calibrations, Nondestructive Tests of machined products, and complete evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to our clients written specification requirements and/or instructions and record all test parameters and preliminary and final acceptance results.
Level II Technician shall be experienced in performing periodic set up and calibration of equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
Level II Technician shall be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of each certified NDT method being used and should exercise assigned responsibility for self-paced on-the-job training and guidance of facility Assistants and/or Level-I trainees. Level II Technician shall organize and report all company job order results of NDT.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specification requirements or standards and evaluate results
- Interpret and disposition all relevant and irrelevant indicators
- Organize and report test results
- Perform specialized inspections
- May instruct and supervise others
- Perform other job related tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Some college preferred
- NDT Level II Certification
- Technical background in NDT methods and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret results of inspections
- Knowledge of NDT equipment

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

- Working extended hours and standing for extended periods of time
