Legislative Affairs Consultant

The Opportunity:

To achieve an organization’s mission, leaders need strong team members who can provide direct execution, strategic, and administration support Legislative Affairs for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H). This position will advise the Agency on government relations and collaboration that further strategic goals and support legislative cooperation for ARPA-H.

You'll serve as a Legislative Affairs Consultant helping clients to develop and implement technical governmental affairs strategies for clients. You will coordinate analyses and recommendations, manage tasks for clients, and track Congressional priorities for the Agency. Your attention to detail, flexibility, communication skills, understanding of the client's mission, and problem-solving will enable the mission's success.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Provide technical support to the team through a variety of tasks and deliverables

  • Develop briefings, talking points, and other materials to prepare principals for Congressional engagements

  • Draft communications for internal and external messaging, including an organization-wide newsletter regarding Washington D.C. developments for the week

  • Summarize hearings, track legislation, and monitor other Congressional actions

  • Track and draft raft Congressional correspondence for the client

  • Provide administrative support in scheduling meetings, managing logistics, and drafting follow-up emails,

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a professional work environment

  • Experience with working for a Member of Congress on a Congressional Committee or in an agency Legislative Affairs shop

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, including interaction with government agencies or Congress

  • Experience with HHS or NIH

  • Experience with research

  • Knowledge of the Congressional budget and appropriations process

  • Ability to track multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to be concise, focused, and timely

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with ARPA

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Possession of excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and coordination skills

  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred; Doctorate degree in a related field a plus

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
