Compensation                    $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 (Range applies to US candidates only) + Benefits/Variable Comp./Equity - Range may vary based on experience. 

 ABOUT THE JOB                                                                                                                                      

OneStream is looking to add an experience Legal Counsel team member specifically in the area of Employment. This individual will advise the company on global employment matters with a focus on: legal compliance; drafting and negotiating offer letters, termination agreements, and company policies and handbooks in multiple jurisdictions; and advising internal stakeholders on U.S. and global issues related to recruiting, hiring, wage and hour issues, performance management, investigations, leave and accommodation requests, and employee terminations. This position will work collaboratively with cross functional teams of stakeholders (including HR, Finance, and senior leadership) to advise the business on general employment practices and will liaise with outside Legal Counsel where appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities:

• Advise internal stakeholders on all global employment law matters including, but not limited to: recruiting; right to work and hiring practices; wage and hour and pay equity issues; performance management; employee discipline and internal investigations; leave and accommodation requests; disability related issues; employee terminations; discrimination and harassment complaints and investigations; corporate compliance; interpreting and applying employment policies and statutory regulations; and negotiating and preparing employment-related agreements.
• Work closely with external Legal Counsel to manage employment-related claims in all stages including investigation, pre-litigation, judicial, and administrative proceedings.
• Play a key role in our international expansion, including by leading and managing employment-related projects.
• Review and negotiate benefits plans.
• Draft and review employment policies and employee handbooks.
• Develop and provide training programs in all areas of employment law.
• Draft, review and negotiate some commercial or transactional agreements.
• Conduct Legal research and provide legislative and regulatory updates.
• Evaluate company risk and escalate issues as necessary.
• Extensive interaction with cross-functional teams at all organizational levels with the expectation of maintaining high levels of responsiveness and professionalism.
• Provide support to the People Operations team and other business stakeholders by providing practical legal and business advice on various employment related matters and initiatives.
• Improve efficiency and compliance by implementing or updating processes, templates, etc.
• Be a great teammate who supports the collective success of the legal team through collaboration, integrity, humility, and respect, all within a productive and good-natured environment.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

QUALITIES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

Formal Education and Certification

• JD from accredited law school and licensed to practice law in at least one state.

Knowledge and Experience

• 3+ years of in-house or law firm experience.
• Experience with direct interaction with both internal and external clients and across all organizational levels.
• Demonstrated competency with common technology, including but not limited to email, internet, Excel and Word.

Nice to Have

• Experience working for a global company.
• Experience as in-house counsel.
• Experience with benefits plans and programs.
• Preferred CIPP certification with a minimum of significant experience with data privacy laws

Personal Attributes

• Strong employment law background (international preferred) including 3+ years of in-house or law firm experience.
• High degree of independence, initiative, and judgement.
• Ability to deliver results, both as an individual contributor and as a member of the global legal team.
• Capacity to lead projects and coordinate with external advisors.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly digest complex information and make informed decisions.
• Must be self-motivated with high energy.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the drafting of agreements and giving advice in plain English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
• Ability to handle all matters with a high degree of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.
• Legally authorized to work for any company in the United States without sponsorship.
