Job Summary

The Department of Education, Development, Teaching and Learning (EDTL) at CWU is accepting applications to fill future full-time and part-time lecturer positions to teach classes in literacy and reading/writing assessment.

The Department serves teaching candidates seeking a major in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Special Education. Minors include Early Childhood Education, Literacy, Special Education, and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)/ Bilingual Education. We offer Masters programs in Literacy, Special Education, and Teaching English as a Second Lanaguage (TESL)/ Bilingual Education.

The ideal candidate is an individual who enjoys working in a diverse, dynamic, and collaborative environment that values active learning and engagement. We strive to prepare future educators as leaders in education to enhance our communities and profession.

We seek part-time educators with teaching experience with children, birth to grade 8. We offer evening courses to many of our students, so educators who wish to teach in the evenings are welcomed. Knowledge of online course delivery, specifically using the Canvas software, is helpful.

We offer courses at our Ellensburg campus and centers in Des Moines, Pierce, Wenatchee, and Yakima. Please specify in your cover letter your location and the degree you are willing to travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Literacy or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
  • K-8 Classroom teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching teacher preparation courses.
  • Experience as a Reading Specialist.
  • Experience working with diverse populations of learners.
  • Knowledge of online course preparation and delivery.

Pay & Work Schedule

Pay: Based on the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
The minimum remuneration for the non-tenure-track titles for the 2023-2024 academic year will be:
(a) Lecturer: $1,154 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $922 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.
(b) Senior Lecturer: $1,269 per workload unit for faculty with terminal degrees; $1,013 per workload unit for faculty without terminal degrees.

Additional Information: This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for positions in the department of Education, Development, Teaching and Learning through March 2024. There is a possibility that selected applicants may be called on short notice to fill lecturer vacancies on a quarter-by-quarter basis.

Screening of applications begins immediately and will continue as needed. The number of lecturer positions filled varies from quarter to quarter, depending upon the needs of the department. Positions typically start at the beginning of an academic quarter. Your application will be maintained in this pool for consideration through March 2024.
