Department Summary The Merchandising and Digital Retailing program at University of North Texas is one of the top merchandising programs in the nation, with over 400 undergraduate students and 20 graduate students majoring in the program. Its innovative degrees include merchandising (with fashion and furniture/ decor concentrations), and the nation's first bachelor's degree in both Digital Retailing and consumer experience management. UNT's Digital Retailing Program is the only one of its kind in the nation. The program focuses in this innovative aspects of e-commerce and consists of industry-relevant courses to prepare students to compete in this digital-driven landscape. The Digital Retailing Program gives students a comprehensive foundation in e-commerce, websites and digital platforms, digital retail analytics, digital retail marketing strategies, search marketing, SEO, social media marketing, CRM, user experience and design, content development, strategy, and website design. We work with industry partners in the digital, technology and e-commerce retail verticals to provide opportunities for mentoring, internships and employment upon graduation.
The successful candidate will equip undergraduate students with an understanding of Digital Retailing by teaching undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Digital Retail, Digital Retailing strategies, digital order fulfillment and customer service strategies. Aligning with the goals for the Digital Retailing program, the new faculty member will help students develop conceptual, critical thinking, practical applications, written and verbal communication skills. Ideally, the person for this hire would have industry experience working on franchising and/or product licensing.
Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses in Digital Retailing, franchising/licensing, and/or merchandising.
Develop strong partnerships that link student experiences with industry.
Participate in department, college and university committees and other opportunities for service.

- Earned master's or higher degree in merchandising or closely aligned field from accredited institution at the time of the appointment with course work in Digital Retailing and merchandising and/or related areas.

- Able and willing to teach at both UNT Frisco and UNT Denton campuses.
- Expertise and experience in any areas related to Digital Retailing or closely aligned field
- Ability to teach and apply one or more of the following software tools such as: Google Analytics, Google AdWords, social media scheduling tools (ex: HootSuite, etc.), keyword research tools (ex: SEMrush, etc.).
2+ years industry experience in any of the following areas: digital commerce, franchising, licensing, branding, buying and/or consumer behavior.
