About the role:

Lean Manufacturing Engineer role is to identify opportunities and execute improvement projects in areas across the Warrick Operations Site. While driving the Potroom and Carbon Plant to target state will be a primary focus of this role, the individual will also work with all teams in driving key initiatives.

MAJOR DELIVERABLES:

  • Develop process flow & value stream maps for the key processes
  • Strong emphasis on visual management projects
  • Coach all members on the daily management tools which includes shift change between supervisors, toolbox meetings where daily job assignments are communicated and the daily management meetings (DMS)
  • Conduct problem solving sessions in for the key issues with the team members and building action plans
  • Execute projects that directly link to the cost-saving targets of the Potroom and Carbon Plant
  • Use Lean/CI tools to minimize sources of waste
  • Influence change management to peers and subsequently supervisors and shop floor employees
  • Analyze current data and processes to evaluate improvement opportunities both short-term and long-term
  • Execute improvement projects in a DMAIC project management approach
  • Support the continuous improvement plan implementation (also known in Alcoa as Alcoa Business System or ABS) in a PDCA framework

What you can bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree required - Engineering & Management, Manufacturing Engineer preferred
  • Minimum 3 years Lean/Continuous Improvement work experience in an industrial setting
  • In depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing - Six Sigma Green Belt is preferred
  • Above average computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office software (e.g.. Excel, Power Point, PowerBI, etc)
  • Ability to challenge, communicate, influence and work collaboratively with key stakeholders
    • High energy, detail-minded, ability to work in systematic, structured, and efficient manner
    • Positive, influencing and motivated to get results
    • Strong problem solving, team building, planning and decision-making skills
