About the Opportunity
The Lean Improvement Consultant will collaborate withinternal and external leadership teams and stakeholders to drive change by identifying,prioritizing, and executing complex Lean projects designed to deliversignificant business results and transform culture. The Lean ImprovementConsultant is responsible for working with System Office and constituentinstitution partners to ensure overall success of Lean Six Sigma projects,Organizational Assessments, and Change Management Initiatives. Specificdeliverables will include, but will not be limited to, SIPOC Documents, ValueStream Maps, Client Value Calculations, Pain Point Prioritization Artifacts,Root Cause Analysis Displays, Solutioning Recommendations and Scheduling alongwith Controls and Risk Remediation Analysis.
The position is responsible for overseeing the analysis,design, documentation, and implementation process for any consultingengagements assigned - whether business process improvement engagements,operational assessments, or change management initiatives. The Lean ImprovementConsultant will manage and facilitate design sessions, conduct informationalinterviews, identify, and help implement KPIs, and use data and statisticalanalysis to identify opportunities for improvement and prioritize projects. TheLean Improvement Consultant may be responsible for only one project at a timeor may support 2 to 3 projects depending on complexity. Strong facilitation andrelationship building skills are vital within this role.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. UNC System employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The UNC System Office also has administrative oversight of a number of University affiliates, including PBS North Carolina, the North Carolina Arboretum, the NC State Education Assistance Authority, and University of North Carolina Press.
About the Team
The Operations Division works collaboratively withinthe System Office to help ensure efficient and cost-effective integration ofnew technologies and processes to meet the strategic needs of the NorthCarolina System Office and the common and unique needs of the 17 institutions.The division includes Advancement, Enterprise Data Office (EDO), HumanResources, Information Technology, and the Project Management Office.
Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5 years of progressively related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Black Belt certification required.

Solid track record of delivering business improvement projects at Black Belt LevelExperience of working with and influencing stakeholders at a senior manager level Ability to lead a cross functional teamProven track record of consulting, negotiating, and influencing without authorityStrong communication, interpersonal skills and high energyWorking knowledge of Project Management and Change ManagementMicrosoft Office Suite proficiency required including Microsoft Visio
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Communications, or Engineering and a high degree of competency in the use and application of Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology. Consulting experience preferred.
