Job Description
The Lead Welder assists or works independent of others handling, positioning, layout, tacking, and welding together metal components consisting of structural shapes, plate, and light gauge structural components for modular buildings and equipment enclosures, working on shop floor, or outdoors on grounds and work pods. In addition to welding, leads other crew members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Being prepared to be productive with tools, information and materials.
- Being a champion for safety, quality and 5S.
- Achieving weekly production goals.
- Safely operates associated welding equipment such as hand held plasma, cutting torc, and grinders
- Positions and clamps work pieces together in jigs or fixtures
- Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
- Capability to weld various thicknesses of metals
Requirements
- One year certificate from college or technical school preferred, or at least 2 years of MIG welding experience required.
- The ability to receive forklift certification, prior forklift experience preferred.
- Physical demands require lifting up to 100 lbs on a regular basis and over 100 lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to work 4:00pm - 2:30am and overtime, as needed.
