Lead Tutor

About Study Smart Tutors
Study Smart Tutor's mission is to help low-income, first-generation college-bound students realize their college dreams by building confidence and developing test-taking skills. Study Smart Tutors offers an array of college access courses at no cost to our students or their families. We accomplish this by partnering with schools, outreach programs, and other college access organizations to provide efficient 2. and effective college access programming and classroom-based test preparation.
Position: Lead Tutor
The Lead Tutor is responsible for administrative duties including communication to both parents and tutors,
The Lead Tutor is responsible for overseeing and managing a tutoring site. This includes monitoring student-tutor interactions.

1. Maintain Student Safety in Programs
Be aware of students who will not be at program - absent from school or updated from family if a student will or won’t attend a program
Speak with parents about missing parent agreements and obtain them
Manage student behavior to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment
Hold conversations with families about student behaviors as they arise
Always enforce Study Smart Tutors’s Safety Protocols and Procedures
Complete the Study Smart Tutors Incident Report for major behavior and safety events

2. Oversee Program Student Pick Up:
Ensure Parents/tutors are properly signing students out
Stay with late pickups, leaves after last student is picked up (if no site coordination)
Thoroughly check turned in sign in sheets to ensure every student has been signed out- every student is accounted for.
3. Manage Daily Program Support:
If in need of a substitute split groups, notify Academic Services Manager and On-Call teams
Hand out snacks
Check classrooms after the program to ensure tutors cleaned up after their group. If not completed to standard, Lead Tutor cleans them up.
4. Support Tutors:
Check in with tutors to address concerns/needs and distribute any materials, curriculum, program items.
Provide daily support to tutors in behavior and classroom management, assist with curriculum usage and account management, and conduct regular check-out/debriefing sessions with each tutor
Support Tutors in behavior/classroom management, support of their curriculum/Lexia usage/accounts.
Monitor student check in area (Gym, Library, etc.) and oversee students until other tutors arrive (with selected tutors to maintain a safe student to staff ratio).
Communicate staff needs for scheduled days off and call outs
5. Admin Duties/Overall Program Support:
Maintain and develop relationships with families and school staff (secretaries, principals, custodians, etc.)
Enter daily attendance into Cayen
Update student information as needed- on Cayen, attendance sheets, and Lexia for reading students with new and dropped students as needed.
File Parent Agreements/enrollment forms in site binder
Request various materials as needed (program supplies, snack, additional curriculum needs) - then pick up from office if necessary
Meet with your Academic Manager weekly
6. Enrollments:
Group students and update any rosters/attendance sheets, then communicate with other tutors and Academic Services Managers
Set up students' online credentials if applicable (ex. Lexia)
7. Curriculum:
Understand how to use all curriculum platforms and materials for their site.
Serve as the go to resource for tutors who need support on a daily basis.
Communicate with the Academic Services Manager for additional materials and troubleshooting as needed.

Qualifications
● Bachelor's Degree in education or related field 2+ years of teaching, tutoring, or after-school experience, preferably with Title 1 schools.
● Experience with Math/ELA intervention frameworks and practices.
● Ability to effectively collaborate with team members.
● Strong organization and problem-solving skills.
● Mastery of Microsoft Office and G-Suite Apps.
● Suitable work environment (Wi-Fi, desk, etc.).
● Strong written and oral communication skills.
● Access to reliable transportation.
Salary and Benefits
Approximate 5 hours per week on top of tutoring hours at admin rate
Tutoring hours paid at higher rate $45 an hour
