Licensed child care center for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years, located in Manchester, NH
The Mission of our center is to provide a high quality educational program for your children, providing care that parents can trust, age-appropriate and supportive environment in which children can learn, which encourages individuality and self-confidence within children.
DESCRIPTION:
Provides a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. Works with associate teachers and assistant teachers to provide inclusive care.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Sets up the physical environment to promote cognitive learning and self-help skills, while adhering to state guidelines.
2. Manages classroom behaviors and maintains an emotionally positive classroom through appropriate guidance techniques such as redirection, balance of activities, planned transitions and logical consequences.
3. Constructs and implements daily, weekly and monthly lesson plans.
4. Provides a monthly newsletter to families outlining key activities and reminders.
5. Provides semi-annual evaluations of the children and their development.
6. Works with other staff to create a professional work environment and role models healthy interactions to the children. Supervises or encourages other staff as needed. Seeks out guidance from administration when needed.
7. Ensures that child/teacher ratios are maintained per state guidelines. Reports immediately to administration if such ratios are endangered.
8. Clean and disinfect classroom equipment and areas and send toys down to be sanitized on a daily schedule.
9. Maintains 18 hours of training as required by the state of NH that relates to the classroom and current best practices. As well as current CPR and First Aid certification.
10. Performs similar or related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Licensure / Certification:
Must meet the qualifications of a Lead Teacher as outlined by the State of NH requirements. Including but not limited to:
Have a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma, be at least 18 years of age, have a minimum of 1000 hours experience working with children in a licensed child care program, and meet one of the following pre-service training/education options:
(1) A minimum of 18 credits in child development, early childhood or elementary education, or other field of study focused on children from a regionally accredited college or university, including at least 3 credits in child growth and development;
(2) Documentation of a non-expired child development associates (CDA) in center based programs awarded by the council for professional recognition;
(3) A credential from a teacher preparation program accredited by MACTE; or
(4) Documentation from or on file with the department that she or he was qualified for and employed in the position of Lead Teacher on or before the effective date of these rules in 2017.
