As part of the Naval Power Mission Area, the SPY-6(V)3 radar system is a variant of the Navy’s next generation Enterprise Air Surveillance Radar (EASR) that is a key sensor on the Constellation-class multi-mission guided missile FFG(X) frigate ships. This EASR variant is part of the SPY-6 family of radars being produced by Raytheon on the SPY-6 Hardware Production & Sustainment contract. Raytheon is responsible on the SPY-6 Integration & Production Support contract to adapt the configuration of the SPY-6(V)3 system to the specific FFG(X) platform requirements and integrate the radar with the Aegis BL10 combat system. FFG(X) will be equipped with sophisticated hard-kill and soft-kill technologies to protect itself during independent operations, or to protect logistics ships during escort missions in low- and medium-threat environments (complex electronic warfare and anti-ship missile threat environments). The SPY-6(V)3 FFG(X) Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) is an integral part of the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) and is the principal arbiter of Systems requirements and design of the radar per those requirements to meet the needs of the warfighter.
