As a Lead Software Engineer, you will bring your technical skills to a hospitality company with an award-winning culture. On the Software Engineering team reporting to the Senior Manager Software Engineering, you will support projects including Hilton. com and various customer-facing applications.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.

What your day-to-day will be like:

  • Help shape the user experience and functionality of our web applications.
  • Write efficient, maintainable, and scalable front-end code to implement new features, enhance existing functionalities, and fix bugs, ensuring a seamless user experience.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to coding standards.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, including design decisions and codebase explanations, to maintain clarity and knowledge transfer within the team.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization, scalability, and performance improvements within the front-end architecture, contributing to software that is robust and efficient.

How you will collaborate with others:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, attending and actively participating in meetings to discuss project progress, provide updates, and gather feedback.
  • Collaborate with designers, back-end engineers, product owners, and others to translate requirements into functional, user-friendly web interfaces.
  • Contribute to the roadmap planning process, providing technical insights and recommendations to align with business goals.
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers, promoting best practices and guiding the team towards high-quality code.

What projects you will take ownership of:

  • Support the hilton.com customer-facing website used by millions of people every day, including creating and maintaining front-end assets and the tests that support them.
  • Responsible for a range of tasks aimed at ensuring the development and maintenance of high-quality software solutions.

WHY YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT

You have these minimum qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in Technology or a related field
  • One (1) year of React experience in a production environment
  • One (1) year of TypeScript experience in a production environment
  • One (1) year of unit test development experience
  • Collaborative mindset with technical expertise
  • Strong working knowledge of Git, and experience supporting sites for different browsers, operating systems, and devices
  • Experience communicating updates and resolutions to customers and other partners
  • Experience ensuring that code meets all functionality and acceptance criteria
  • Travel up to 10% - 15%

It would be useful if you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or Associate's Degree plus 6+ years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 12+ years of Technology related experience
  • Seven (7)+ years of professional experience in Technology or a related field
  • Two (2)+ years of working with React, Next.js, and Cypress
  • Experience with web accessibility including using screen readers
  • Experience with implementing A/B and multi-variate tests
  • Strong working knowledge of Atlassian Stack and Agile methodologies
