The Lead Reservoir Engineer will work within a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the assessment, technical progression, and development of the company’s assets. You will drive, support, and implement development strategies to maximize the resource recovery and asset value. You will thrive in this position if you love to apply current Reservoir Engineering techniques with an integrated subsurface and operational approach. The successful candidate will need to be able to make sound business recommendations by striking a balance between driving the asset’s development progression while consistently delivering expected performance metrics.
Responsibilities
- Key team member that drives continual technical learnings and subsurface asset understanding.
- Develops and implements technical projects and data collection strategies in conjunction with the subsurface team to drive improved performance and prediction.
- Use Reservoir Engineering techniques to identify drilling, recompletion, and workover potential within new and existing assets.
- Integrate rate transient analysis, material balance, decline curve and volumetric analyses into reservoir and well performance evaluation.
- Build reservoir simulation models when appropriate to validate/improve predictions and quantify uncertainty.
- Identify, support and progress well development efforts within a multi-disciplinary team environment to drill ready status.
- Lead and coordinate overall planning effort to ensure wells readiness milestone achieved for execution phases of well lifecycle.
- Perform economic analyses and sensitivities as needed.
- Provide engineering support for corporate processes such as reserves, AFE generation, accruals, and forecasting.
- Prepare and present various technical presentations. Asset performance updates, key project milestones and program lookbacks.
- Monitor, analyze and benchmark internal and competitor well performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
- 10-15+ years Reservoir Engineering experience working with E&P company.
- Experience planning and progressing appraisal and development activities of unconventional assets.
- Experience screening and characterizing new potential opportunities.
- Experience managing a capitally active unconventional development.
- Solid understanding of PVT analysis and fluid behavior, and geoscience products and workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-stater and initiates within a team environment.
- Experience using database and engineering software including Aries/Val Nav, ResFrac/Eclipse, Kappa/Harmony, Whitson, Spotfire, Enverus, GIS.
