Classification: Full-Time

Company Background:

JWCH Institute is a Federally Qualified Health Center. It is the largest non-government provider of homeless health and supportive services in Los Angeles County. The Recuperative Care Center (RCC) is funded by Department of Health Services (DHS), in the Housing for Health program. The RCC program provides intensive case management, behavioral healthcare and satellite medical clinic services, on-site.

Position Purpose:

The Lead RN will serve as a leader of the health care team and provide oversight of the recuperative care clinic-nursing functions, other RNs, and LVNs. The Lead RN will conduct functional and technical training in alignment with the agency and funding source policies and procedures. The Lead RN will receive guidance from the Program Director and clinical guidance and updates from the Corporate Nurse Manager. The Lead RN will also work towards upholding JWCH’s mission of improving the health status and well-being of underserved segments of the population of Los Angeles area.


Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Provides unit-based leadership in the development and provision of clinical services within their regulatory scope practice.
  2. Conduct new hire orientations for nursing staff, to include skills assessments.
  3. Leads and directs unit personnel. Initiates and coordinates individual and team conferences with health team members, patients, and/or families to initiate and revise care plans for optimal, individualized patient care.
  4. Monitors personnel in the performance of patient care activities to ensure adequate patient care and quality of work.
  5. Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive training for all nursing staff collaborating and or guidance from CNM.
  6. Provide ongoing training, education and remediation for nursing and ancillary staff.
  7. Responsible for coordinating all nursing credentialing functions.
  8. Coordinating skills lab training and annual competency testing for Medical Assistants and licensed nurses.
  9. Collaborates with the Medical Director and CMO to provide continuum of medical care.
  10. Participates in all case conferences regarding RCC clients, supporting care teams’ in treatment plans.
  11. Collects patient complaints and follows appropriate procedures in resolving any complaints.
  12. Analyzes, resolves and reports major issues concerning the clinical operations of the sites to appropriate management staff.
  13. Support and assist Nurse Manager and Program Director with required reporting and data collection.
  14. Monitors and ensures clinical compliance with federal, state, local regulations and accreditation standards.
  15. Collaborate with the Operations and QA teams to enhance Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) initiatives.
  16. Provide oversight of patient screening/triage, dispensary and medication ordering processes.
  17. Collaborate with Program Director to ensure that safety guidelines and facility requirements are met.
  18. Participate in medical updates and training as appropriate.
  19. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  1. Licensed by the State of California to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  2. CPR/BLS certification from American Heart Association
  3. At least five years of experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  4. At least two years of supervising experience of Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses and Medical Assistants.
  5. Experience working with patients and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
  6. Possess a valid California’s Driver License.
  7. Must have excellent personal skills, demonstrating the ability to conduct oneself in a non-controversial style; a style that inspires the respect of others and promotes a sense of trust in the individual’s competence.
  8. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs with the ability to learn and use proprietary software as required.

Employees working 30 hours per week or more are provided a monthly allowance which can be used towards medical, dental, vision, and life insurance premiums. The National Health Service Corp may be accepting applications Loan Repayment Program awards. The program is open to licensed primary care medical, dental, and mental and behavior health providers who are employed or have accepted an offer of employment at an NHSC-approved site. Awardees receive up to $50,000 in exchange for two years of service if they practice in a HPSA of 14 above (Tier I). Awardees can also receive up to $30,0000 in exchange for two years of service if they practice in a HPSA of 13 and below (Tier II).
