Job description

Cox Communications, Inc. is seeking a Product Manager to provide leadership for product strategy, development, and deployment of additional Android manufacturers, as well as BYOD and SIM/eSIM. This person will be accountable for and serve as the authority on all aspects of the device program for the specific device manufacturers, BYOD and SIM/eSIM programs. This includes defining product requirements, customer experience, launch activities, financial & operating metrics and product roadmap. They will also be responsible for vendor management and working with OEMs on funding to support promotional activities. These efforts will require close coordination with internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, etc) to support the overall sell-through of devices. This person will be recognized as the subject matter expert for devices from the defined manufacturers. They will also be responsible for the overall life cycle management of the devices, to ensure a smooth transition when a product goes EOL. Leads cross-functional teams by example, demonstrating passion and drive to satisfy customer needs to optimize the customer experience through product innovation and/or improvements to internal organization, processes and technology. Provides mentorship and guidance to team members and associates.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Develop a documented product vision that aligns with and/or enhances customer needs, market and competitive trends and corporate strategy, and make recommendations regarding device selection.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Sales and OEM partners to successfully develop and launch devices.
  • Responsible to deliver activities and tasks necessary for successful launch and achievement of business objectives.
  • Contributes to planning, budgeting, resourcing and monitoring results.
  • Drive achievement of rigorous KPIs including (but not limited to): Sales, Profitability, Inventory Levels.
  • High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Research, analyze and assess new device categories and provide recommendations as part of overall device portfolio strategy.
  • Work with Supply Chain to ensure sufficient supply of devices and SIMs/eSIMs are available.
  • Lifecycle management of devices to ensure smooth transition of EOL product, with launch of the product replacing it.
  • Vendor management.
  • Continuously monitor and assess inputs from various sources (field sales, market research, market intelligence, etc.) and adapt portfolio and BYOD strategy as necessary.
  • Analyze customer, business and product performance metrics and interpret underlying drivers to translate into data-based recommendations.
  • Develop a documented product vision that aligns with and/or enhances customer needs, market and competitive trends and corporate strategy.
  • Work closely with vendor partners to develop SIM/eSIM & iSIM strategies.
  • Engage internal stakeholders from Marketing, Sales and IT, in addition to MNO and OEM partners, to identify the BYOD portfolio and ensure appropriate training and support is available.
  • Work closely with Technology and Product teams to ensure business requirements and future technology needs are addressed.
  • Responsible to deliver activities and tasks necessary for successful launch and achievement of business objectives.
  • Drive achievement of specified KPIs for BYOD including (but not limited to) Sales and OS Mix.
  • Guide and support cross-functional teams to move ideas through a project funnel from ideation through deployment as the champion and owner of the initiative.
  • Facilitates communication amongst project leaders, peers and relevant department and cross-functional stakeholders to maintain alignment and awareness of current product state and vision.

Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 18 years' experience in a related field.
  • Previous employment with a carrier or OEM working on go to market device launches for devices
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills (written and verbal) including experience giving presentations that allows one to work effectively with teams throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong motivator and communicator both verbally and through written instruction
  • Demonstrate strong technical and market knowledge.

Preferred:
  • Experience in telecommunications or high-tech environment
  • Experience gathering and prioritizing market requirements
