Denise Louie Education Center is a local nonprofit providing comprehensive, multicultural early education and family support services to low-income, at-risk immigrant, and refugee communities residing in King County for over 40 years. Today, Denise Louie serves nearly 950 children and families with preschool, home visiting, and socialization groups, all offered at no cost.
We seek Lead Teachers with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in ECE or related fields and 30 STARS Hours and are looking for full-time hours.

The range for this position is $25.68/hr - $32.53/hr. You can expect to make approximately $27/hr with 4 to 5 years of prior experience as a lead teacher in a head start classroom.

Essential Functions:
- Maintain a healthy, safe, and warm classroom environment through effective supervision and developmentally appropriate practices that allow learning through curiosity, experimentation, play, and implementation of individualized plans.
- Plan and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with the Denise Louie Education Center curriculum. Individualize lessons based on information from screenings, child interests, family culture, data on child growth, and IEPs.
- Complete child observations and checkpoint data to assess child growth and development and create individualized goals.
- Provide support for children's behavior with evidence-based strategies. Model and collaborate with the teaching team to have the same approach.
- Encourage parents to volunteer in the classroom, providing at-home learning activities and communicating child progress/concerns to families.
- Provide guidance and direction to teaching assistants, substitute teachers, and volunteers.
Qualifications:
- CDA or AA required. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience working with children ages five and under.
- Able to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
- Bilingual in a language spoken by DLEC parents (Spanish, Amharic, Cantonese, and Vietnamese) preferred.
Physical Demands: To perform the job, the employee must be able to lift and potentially carry a child weighing up to 50 pounds, routinely kneel, bend, crouch, and sit on the floor for extended periods and stand, walk, and sit on child-sized chairs throughout the day.
Working Conditions: The work is typically performed in an early childhood school environment, with moderate to loud noise.
