Job description

About the Position: This is a Lead Police Officer (Desk Sergeant) position with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Police/Provost Marshal Division on Ft. Leavenworth, Ks. Incumbent performs the full range of law enforcement duties involved with a variety of crimes and offenses.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience required: One FULL year of specialized experience which includes experience utilizing word processing and web-based law enforcement computer programs to establish, update, query or print detailed reports, forms, and citations; conducting law enforcement duties including exercising search and apprehension authority, collecting and preserving evidence, and enforcing traffic laws. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
*All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements. Current employees applying under VEOA are subject to time-in-grade restrictions like any other GS employee.
