Trinity Rail is hiring (a/an) Lead Mobile Repair Technician at our St. Louis, MO plant.

The Lead Mobile Repair Technician - DOT position is a great opportunity for a resilient, team-minded individual who doesn't stray away from a challenge.

  • Conducts railcar inspections to ensure cars are in compliance.
  • Performs repairs as necessary while always using current repair procedures. 
  • Meets the expectations and requirements of all customers to ensure we deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Ensures all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is accurate and complete.
  • Has the ability to pass any required NDT disciplines and function specific certifications, which may include tank car welding, and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
  • Actively participates in safety assessments and equipment inspections. 
  • Ability to work within confined spaces and from elevated heights as required to perform work.
  • Able to perform confined space monitoring and create hot work permits. Follows all safety rules and practices. 
  • May be involved in safety committees or initiatives.
  • May be required to have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Understand and complete all basic required on-board training in regard to safety and quality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in railcar maintenance or manufacturing or proficient in two or more of the following disciplines: Air Brake Testing, Welding, Gasket Valves and Fasteners, BLTII, PTII, VTII, Qualified Coating Applicator, Qualified Coating Inspector, Qualified Abrasive Blaster or other qualifications as applicable.                   
  • Understanding of all major railcar components and basic functions.            
  • Must be able to perform work outlined without direct supervision.                       
  • Ability to use hand tools such as hammers, torches, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, pneumatic tools, and others as required.                                                      
  • Advanced skills in reading engineered drawings.                                              
  • Experience/Knowledgeable with the Field Manual of the AAR Interchange rules.  
  • Ability to create and complete BRC.                                                                       
  • Ability to perform general inspections on railcars.                            
  • Ability to perform a final inspection of completed work.              
  • Meet all qualifications of an Expert Mobile Repair technician.             
  • Experience leading 3 or more employees.                            
  • Serves as an active leader for all levels of hourly workers.                 
  • Works directly with customers to schedule required work; communicates current status or work to be performed.                     
  • Ability to learn basic computer functions such as composing and sending e-mails, basic Microsoft functions.
  • Will be required to operate and maintain a TrinityRail Mobile Repair Truck, with some trucks requiring a DOT regulated driver.
  • Must meet DOT requirements to operate CMVs less than 26k GVWR.
