- As we continue to expand our portfolio and take on exciting new projects, we are seeking a dedicated Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The position will be based in our Cincinnati, Ohio location.
Job Summary:
- As a key part of the design team, you will be responsible for the mechanical design and analysis of animatronic figures, mechanical affects, and related structures.
- Your work will be going into major theme parks around the world.
- Building upon previous designs, current best practices, customer specifications, and industry standards; you will create designs to meet performance expectations, as well as safety and reliability requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design three-dimensional parametric solid part models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings of complex animatronic/robotic systems.
- Present designs and conduct design reviews with the internal team and clients.
- Represent engineering from project concept through final installation, collaborating across all teams including, but not limited to design, shells, plastics, assembly and controls.
- Understand and deliver on customer functional and technical specifications.
- Create and manage Bill of Materials for each project.
- Create and manage project documentation as required by client.
- Perform analysis as required by project such as FEA, RBD and FMEA.
Requirements
Qualifications:- 5 years of engineering design experience
- 2 years' experience working directly in the themed entertainment industry, animatronic experience a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks 2018 or newer.
- Advanced 3d modeling and drafting skills
- Advanced knowledge of machine design & mechanical components.
- Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes – machining, fabrication, assembly.
- Excellent visual and spatial reasoning ability.
- Ability to perform basic hand calculations, tolerance stack- ups, and project documentation.
- Understanding of simulation-based software (SolidWorks, ANSYS).
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint proficiency.
- Driven to be the best in their field; holds themselves to a very high standard of quality and performance.
- Willing to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities.
- Ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
