Lead Maintenance Technician

Job Description:

This position will be based out of Kalkaska MI and will require a minimum of 40-45 hours per week, including occasional evening and weekend work.

Successful characteristics of the ideal candidate include being trustworthy, credible, reliable, and flexible. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable wearing many hats and is willing to roll up their sleeves and help with other duties that may not be a “normal” job responsibility. A sense of urgency is critical.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall management for the facility maintenance team by leading, directing, and supervising the maintenance team in their day-to-day functions.
  • Manage and schedule the team necessary to maintain the overall appearance, preventative maintenance, safety and OSHA/legal requirements.
  • Oversee all of the maintenance and upkeep of all production equipment and.
  • Oversee safety standards and regulations, all engineering and maintenance operations, and the repair and upkeep of the facility.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, preventative maintenance, and conservation.
  • Create and maintain a preventative maintenance plan for all equipment lines.
  • Meet the service budget and manage the financial resources necessary to accommodate current and future maintenance and repair projects while working within approved budget guidelines.
  • Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of the production equipment.
  • Ensure maintenance work is planned and completed in a timely manner to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.
  • Ensure completion of projects in a timely manner
  • Manage the development and implementation of preventive & predictive maintenance programs and provide guidance on operational issues to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Perform any other designated duties or tasks relevant to the position.
  • Be on call as maintenance specialist for emergencies at any of the facilities.
  • Must be competent and skilled with mechanical, digital and electrical systems.
  • Installation of new equipment such as tables, lights, racks and other equipment as needed
  • Any other duties related to building out and setting up a new cannabis cultivation facility

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong cooperation and communications skills
  • Strong ability to negotiate
  • Management skills with the ability to conduct analysis, establish programs and measures with specific knowledge in developing and implementing preventative maintenance plans and computer literacy.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in engineering or related field preferred, High School Diploma or GED required
  • Over 5 years experience in equipment maintenance in a production environment
  • OSHA certified
  • Project management experience, with the ability to multitask between multi facility projects.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to Lift 75 lbs and Push/Pull 100 lbs
  • Able to repeatedly perform the following tasks: sit, stand, stoop, stretch, bend, twist, reach, carry, lift, push, and pull
