Job Description
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the accurate receiving, storing, and shipping of products to meet company standards of safety, productivity, and quality. This includes the operation of a forklift in the handling of products.
- Adherence to company policies and safety standards
- Perform daily equipment and safety checks per OSHA standards
- Load and unload freight efficiently and safely, using all necessary paperwork
- Transport products to warehouse storage areas using the proper equipment and the correct put-away method
- Perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, picking, and other tasks as needed.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently while meeting productivity quality standards
- Check product for accuracy in inventory
- Sweep and clean the area, including trailers, as needed.
- Promote a safe environment, wearing seat belt, and driving at an appropriate speed.
- Utilize RF scanners
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate:
- Good math, language, and reading skills.
- Follow instructions for operating equipment.
- Forklift certification per OSHA standards.
- Experience in the use of an RF scanner.
Skills Required
- Prior experience as a Forklift Operator.
- 3-5 year’s distribution center and warehouse experience required
Education/Training Required
- High School degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification from a certified college
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. – includes occasional and repetitive lifting
- Sitting 10%, walking 20%, standing 70%.
- Long periods of standing, twisting, and bending
- Overtime work may be required to meet company demands
- Ability to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, pivot, and stand for long periods
- Ability to judge distances and heights
- Ability to work in varying seasonal temperatures
- Ability to work in all functional areas of the warehouse
