Architectural woodworking company seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Lead Finisher. The successful candidate will be our primary wood finisher applying wood stains and varnishes for commercial projects throughout the region. All work is done in our factory in Salina, KS.
The successful candidate can also expect to be cross-trained in other woodwork specialties such as cabinet making, trim molding, and laminating.
This is a non-sedentary position, and it is essential that you have the physical and mental stamina and ability to move quickly and safely, lift 75lbs. un-assisted, push and pull up to 2,000 pounds, lift or reach overhead, frequently stand, kneel, twist, squat, bend and stoop.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare finish samples.
- Prepare and finish wood components for cabinetry, trim and moldings, and custom furniture.
- Mix stains and varnishes.
- Maintain spray equipment and finish room.
- Train and direct finish helpers.
- Touch-up and repair damaged finished goods.
- Work in other production areas when finish schedule allows.
- Perform other duties as requested.

Work Experience / Skills:
- 2 years experience in commercial painting or finishing.
- Ability to mix custom stain colors and finish sample preparation.
- Knowledge of different finishing processes, particularly catalyzed conversion varnish.
- Know of color mixing and touch-up of multiple finish types.
- Use and maintenance of spray equipment and spraying techniques.
- Ability to identify lumber species and cut
- Ability to read shop drawings.
