Summary:

The Lead Technician will lead a team of Field Service Technicians in operating and maintaining utility scale solar facilities. This work includes preventative and corrective maintenance of on-site assets such as solar panels, trackers, power inverters, and substation components.

Requirements:

  • Mentors and sets positive example for junior technicians.
  • Coordinates the replacement of components for electrical equipment in utility scale PV and BESS Renewable Energy projects.
  • Collaborates with senior line managers for plant maintenance.
  • Troubleshoots low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage AC and DC power systems.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on AC and DC power systems.
  • Identifies faulty or underperforming equipment.
  • Utilizes hand tools effectively.
  • Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Manages site inventory.
  • Develops and administers site operating plans.
  • Develops and implements site safety plans.
  • Adheres to proper Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) practices and procedures.
  • Leads daily tailboards and conducts job hazard analysis (JHA).
  • Interfaces with project stakeholders (owners, equipment manufacturers, etc.).
  • Interfaces with project subcontractors.
  • Represents RES in professional manner.
  • Responds to physical location within 1.5 hours for emergency calls identified as a priority by Operations Control Center.
  • Operates RES company vehicles, including trucks, in accordance with state and federal laws and RES policies.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Rotating on-call schedule for emergency response.

Qualifications:

  • High school/GED General education required.
  • Associate's Degree related Technical Degree required.
  • Certification OSHA 10/30 preferred.
  • Certification FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot preferred.
  • Certification Infrared Thermography (any level) preferred.
  • 5+ years or more related electrical maintenance experience required.
  • 3+ years or more medium voltage electrical work experience required.
  • 2+ years or more high voltage electrical work experience required.
  • 2+ years or more managing/leading field technicians required.
  • Intermediate
    • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Advanced
    • Low voltage DC power systems
    • Low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage AC power systems
      • Drawings
      • Theory
    • OSHA regulations
    • Hand tools
    • Equipment operation (skid-steer, forklift, etc)
    • Job hazard analysis (JHA) creation
    • Electrical tools (multimeter, IR camera)
    • IV curve tracing
    • ANSI/NETA MTS
    • SCADA systems
  • Ability to reside with a maximum commuting distance of 60 miles from the work site to ensure availability for on-site responsibilities.
  • Functional Competencies Include: Teamwork, Attention to Detail, Ethics & Integrity, Communication and Prioritization.
  • Domestic travel 5-15% required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Anticipated base salary range: $38.50 - $45.00

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
