Summary
Provides direct supervision over those preparing, distributing, and serving food to inpatients and cafeteria customers. Oversees the cleaning of kitchen utensils/equipment and area sanitation.
Job Duties
- Investigates all unusual situations and activities and reports all equipment malfunctions to proper person.
- Maintains strict security procedures to protect hospital supplies and equipment; reports missing items, suspected food theft, etc.
- Maintains supply of menus, production sheets, office supplies and patient diet communication systems / uses EPIX as applicable.
- Participates in all aspects of portion control such as weighing and measuring required portions for balanced meals.
- Prepares dietary storeroom requisitions for supplies needed for each meal.
- Prepares requisitions for items needed from Materiel Management.
- Provides information and otherwise participates in disciplinary actions and commendations.
- Provides suggestions to improve work methods or procedures. Participates in Quality Improvement Process.
- Assists in establishing or updating departmental protocols and policies.
- Completes annual educational requirements to improve competencies, including those focused on age-specific criteria.
- Provides ongoing feedback regarding performance to those supervised, as appropriate.
- Recommends the purchase and replacement of kitchen equipment, supplies and materials, food preparation, and cleaning hardware.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3 years experience in food service.
Physical Demands
Lift over 50 lbs. Push/pull up to 140 lbs. Carry 80 lbs. short distances. Frequent standing/walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing and reaching overhead.
