Our local client has an opening on their team for a Lead Data Scientist. This role will require candidates to be able to make it to the Albany, NY office once a month, but is otherwise fully remote. Candidates can reside in New York State or anywhere in the Northeast.
Responsibilities of the Lead Data Scientist:
- Provide strategic technical expertise and judgement to project teams and senior management
- Act as a guide/mentor to other members of the data science team
- Collaborate with business and technical teams, driving data-driven decisions and timely analytic solutions
- Develop clear and well-structured analytical plans and logical and conceptual data flows
- Queries, links, validates, and analyzes data across multiple databases with a keen eye on data integrity
- Present and explain analysis results to internal teams and external business partners
- Identify data discrepancies and opportunities for improved data capture
- Conduct data and report testing when necessary
- Provide data documentation, inclusive of reporting and analytics platforms
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications of the Lead Data Scientist:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; Master's Degree preferred
- Minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience required
- Experience with coding in R, SAS, and/or Python
- Experience using machine learning and predictive modeling techniques required
- Experience with Tableau or similar reporting/data visualization tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong ability to document comprehensive data analysis findings
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Detail oriented and deadline driven
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
