Meta seeks a highly-motivated and experienced attorney to serve as Lead Counsel in the eDiscovery & Information Governance Team within Meta’s Legal Department. The position adds to an already strong team and reports to the Associate General Counsel of eDiscovery & Information Governance. This position will play a key role in developing best practices and providing legal guidance to Meta’s global litigation, regulatory, investigation, and product teams.
- Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in U.S. and global legal and regulatory obligations relating to litigation, discovery, and Information Governance.
- Apply legal, eDiscovery, and Information Governance knowledge, principles, practices, and experience when partnering with in-house and outside counsel on active litigation, regulatory, and investigation matters.
- Meaningfully contribute to the design, implementation, and execution of eDiscovery and Information Governance templates, policies, strategies, and workflows.
- Rapidly identify, analyze, and address complicated issues, and distill that complexity into simple and concise communication in cross-functional settings.
- Work collaboratively with the eDiscovery and Information Governance team, as well as case and policy teams, business partners, outside counsel, and vendors.
- Enthusiasm and motivation to learn and understand complex, cutting edge technology and data related concepts, effectively discuss those concepts with technically skilled individuals, and apply that knowledge and understanding to discovery and legal strategies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. State Bar.
- 5+ years of legal experience at a law firm, government agency, or in-house corporation with a focus on litigation, Information Governance, and regulatory matters.
- Experience building partnerships and coordinating with a variety of audiences, including legal, technical, and policy teams, and communicating across cross-functional partnerships.
- Experience learning and understanding complex technology and data related concepts, effectively discuss those concepts with technically skilled individuals, and apply that knowledge and understanding to discovery and legal strategies.
- Experience with eDiscovery and Information Governance technology and tools.
- Experience applying analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and legal knowledge to address complex issues and develop practical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In-house technology company experience.
- Experience in developing and validating technology assisted review programs.
- Exceptional presentation, organizational, and project management skills.
- Experience managing a fast-paced workload while maintaining priorities and anticipating issues.
