Lead CDL-A Driver - 2nd shift (Sturtevant, WI)

The Lead CDL-A Driver is responsible for overseeing a team of drivers, ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining the highest safety standards, and acting as a liaison between the transportation department and management to ensure smooth operations.

 Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by leading the team to safe driving behaviors.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of drivers, including regular performance evaluations and coaching when needed.
• Collaborate with dispatch on driver schedules to plan efficient delivery routes that consider time constraints and customer requirements.
• Guide the team to exceed their pay for performance targets in all areas of safety, quality, productivity, etc.
• Oversee the quality and condition of deliveries, promptly addressing discrepancies or issues as they arise.
• Ensure drivers maintain accurate records of deliveries, driver logs, and vehicle maintenance schedules to assure compliance.
• Be on-call to handle any emergency situations or issues that may arise during deliveries, displaying quick thinking and efficient problem-solving skills.
• Ensure any defects or concerns with equipment are reported in a timely manner.
• Maneuver tractors and trailers into loading or unloading positions.
• Transport equipment to local service center(s) to perform preventative maintenance.
• Retain all paperwork, including BOL’s, POD’s, and fuel/toll receipts.
• Comply with all DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations (e.g. size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) along with all company policies and procedures.
• Immediately report any accidents or violations to appropriate company personnel.

Qualifications:

• Commercial Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
• Strong knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
• Flexibility with working hours and on-call availability.
• The ability to work weekends from time to time based on business needs.
