JOB SUMMARY:

This Lead Carpenter position is a full-time non-exempt position. The Lead Carpenter works as the carpenter skilled in the completion of carpentry tasks and assists the Project Management staff in responsibilities that relate to managing the repairs of both residential and light commercial structures.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Complete carpentry tasks associated with residential and light commercial buildings
  • Manages available resources to complete assigned tasks
  • Cognizant of job and personal safety
  • May be required to assist in the Mitigation and/or Emergency Services departments on an as-needed basis

Skills Imperative to the Job:

  • Able to communicate effectively with co-workers as required to complete tasks
  • Proficient carpentry skills
  • Able to use tools of the trade with precision

Desirable Skills:

  • Bi-lingual
  • Knowledgeable of fire and water restoration
  • Knowledge and experience in local communities of region


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Lead Carpenter has limited supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
:

Associates degree (A.A or A.S) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
:

Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrate the ability to write routine reports, correspondence, and the ability to speak effectively to customers and/or employees of organization.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to visit project sites that have incurred catastrophic events from fire, water, and storm damage and could require accessing roofs, which they need to be able to carry a 28’ ladder from their truck and setting it up at the roof line of the associated property. The employee must be able to carry a minimum of 50 pounds in weight for the purpose of getting material to a specific place on the project site.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Appropriate safety equipment is furnished.
