The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Know and understand the vision, purpose, values and goals of Anthem Memory Care.
- Cares for residents in the community adhering to all community policies and procedures.
- Provides assistance in resident care including cleaning and bathing, personal hygiene, dressing residents, bed making, taking blood pressure, assisting in ambulating, grooming, helping to activities and other functions.
- Reports unusual symptoms and problems of residents to supervisors immediately.
- Monitors the emergency call system for emergency calls and responds appropriately.
- Cooperates with the dining staff and provides general assistance with resident meals and clean-up; may set tables, serve meals, clear tables and straighten dining room after meals.
- Maintains daily records.
- Assists with emergencies and with safety instruction for residents such as fire drills, etc.
- Answers telephones using Anthem telephone techniques and assists visitors in an assertively friendly manner.
- Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with the community safety program.
- Provides effective and courteous service to all residents, guests and co-workers.
- Attends in-service training workshops, seminars, and meetings.
- Promotes and protects the rights of all residents.
- Performs other related essential duties as required.
- Ensure staff are dressed appropriately at the beginning of shift in community-approved attire, including name tag and appropriate PPE.
- Ensure the completion of rounds to be conducted at a minimum of every 2 hours and as needed or as directed by the resident care plan.
- Adhere to break schedules, provide coverage for break times.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of community, common areas and residents’ durable medical equipment i.e., wheelchairs and walkers.
- Utilize 24-hour Book throughout each shift to promote communication of pertinent resident and community information.
- Address any immediate personnel or family issues or concerns and notify supervisor as appropriate.
- Confirm that all needed and required documentation is complete and accurate using the provided devices.
- Provide high quality customer service to team members, residents, families and guests.
- Support staff and allow time for them to complete the required training.
A high school education; some vocational/technical training in the nursing field preferred; at least six months experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Requires First Aid and CPR certification;
- Criminal record clearance or criminal record exemption, as required by law;
- Health evaluation to ensure ability to perform duties of the position and the absence of any communicable disease, including tuberculosis and CXR clearance.
- Infectious disease control policies;
- Personal hygiene and cleaning procedures and the use of cleaning materials;
- Policies and procedures concerning resident care and of administering the procedures correctly;
- Record keeping duties that must be performed regarding residents.
- Must be proficient with electronic devices such as computers, iPods, Smart Phones and have the aptitude to learn and understand how to manage and monitoring emergency calls and call systems;
- Ability to operate washers, dryers, and other cleaning equipment and tools;
- Ability to use and interpret various medical and health care equipment and tools including thermometers, wheelchairs, walkers, blood pressure equipment, stethoscope, etc.;
- Must be physically able to exert a small amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects;
- Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of residents to position or transport them.
