Lead Barista

We are seeking a Lead Barista to join our team. You will serve as an ambassador for exceptional coffee in Hawai'i, both as a culinary experience, important agricultural product, and as a modern thread in the tapestry of Hawai'i's history. You’ll have the chance to learn about varieties, regions, brewing methods, the science of extraction, and high-level coffee brewing equipment. You’ll be an essential part of an outstanding cafe, resourceful team, and serving and celebrating some of the best coffees in Hawaii.

ABOUT YOU

You have 2-3 years of lead or shift supervisor experience in a fast paced service, cafe, and/or hospitality environment. You demonstrate leadership in decision making, coaching, and the ability to both give and accept constructive feedback. You work calmly under pressure. You are willing to fill in where needed, oriented towards culinary excellence and reaching team goals. You hold yourself and others accountable to the highest standards of punctuality, hygiene and efficiency.

COMPENSATION

$17/hour + tips. Tips range from an additional $5-$10/hour.
($16.50/hr during 90-day probationary period.)

Lead Barista Responsibilities:

● Act as the first POC for customers & staff that have questions while leading a shift.
● Lead by example and foster a collaborative inter-departmental work environment
● Expert preparation and training on all items, including but not limited to coffee and tea offerings.
● Collaborate with management and staff to develop action plans and strategies to address performance challenges and opportunities for improvement.
● Provide input for performance evaluations and participate in team meetings & events
● Take ownership of goals within the café and proactively drive objectives to meet/exceed goals
● Ensure financial accuracy by managing the cash drawer, collecting deposits EOD, and maintaining covert knowledge of safe locations and codes.
● Coordinate with Cafe Manager on promotional, tour & event activities
● Maintain attractive merchandise displays, including rotation, ordering, and regular stock checks.
● Punctual opening & closing cafe with knowledge of lockbox codes/access keys
● Inform Cafe management of POS issues and customer requests.
● Monitor staff and ensure management is aware of potential or ongoing HR issues
● Follow all SOPs as written and discussed.
● Completing shift notes at the end of each shift, with open communication to cafe management.
