U.S. Bank is seeking a Lead Application Architect who will contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives in our transformation journey. This position will be responsible for the analysis, design and architecture of large and/or complex application systems.
The candidate is a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with a team and across the organization. The candidate will have deep knowledge of and proven experience in Brokerage and Advisory space, vendors, and systems.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the analysis and detailed architecture for the Broker-Dealer platform and Advisor Experience in collaboration with solution architects and vendor teams.
  • Drive current state to target state technical details, data mappings, integrations, interfaces, impacts, trade-offs and decision-support recommendations.
  • Develop high-level and low-level architectural documentation, including diagrams, design patterns, and technical specifications, ready for development team.
  • Hands-on POC and development as required.
  • Lead code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical discussions with the development teams to ensure adherence to architecture and design and provide guidance.
  • Work closely with vendor teams to drive and review technical and integration designs, provide guidance.
  • Partner with business teams on pros-cons analysis, target state planning, and be the technology SME.
  • Partner across Advisor Experience and Client Experience technology teams to ensure architecture consistency, extendibility, and minimization of technical debt.
  • Partner with Engineering leaders to drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the development teams.
  • Evaluate and assess vendor software platforms and products, conduct build-buy analysis and provide recommendations in collaboration with solution architecture and Engineering leader.
  • Determines appropriate strategies regarding long-term application direction. Ensures compliance with Enterprise Architecture, Technology Standards, and Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning.
  • Proven technical leader offering a collaborative style with an ability to achieve consensus.
  • Self-starter who can pick up new technologies/skills, be comfortable with ambiguity and drive initiatives forward.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Six to eight years of relevant experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years of experience with architecting, developing and implementing applications and end to end solutions.
  • Experience architecting wealth management solutions and working with Broker-Dealer and Advisor Technology platforms a must - e.g. Pershing, Fidelity, FIS, Envestnet, Apex etc.
  • Firm knowledge of Wealth Management business domain, industry and evolution a must.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience with the concepts, philosophies, and tools behind Application Architecture and design, having held Application Architect or Solution Architect roles.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Good knowledge of cloud platforms - Azure(preferable) / AWS architecture, Docker, K8s. Azure certification highly desirable.
  • Technologies -NET Core/Java/Spring, APIs - REST, GraphQL, Intgeration protocols, Microservices Architecture, Frontend Framework.
  • Database experience - Microsoft SQL Server (must), Cassandra (nice to have), large/complex datasets, data modelling, performance, platform evolution, data delivery.
  • Messaging Middleware - Kafka(preferable), Message Queues.
  • Solid SDLC knowledge, CI/CD/DevOps/DevSecOps, Test Automation, Supportability (Terraform, Ansible, Git/Gitlab, Splunk, ELK).

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $129,455.00 - $152,300.00 - $167,530.00
