Job Description
  • Oversee a team of senior-level scientists, known as the "Special Projects Team", serving the production laboratory by resolving issues and challenges impacting routine production.  Lead the efforts of implementing continuous improvement projects by documenting ideas, presenting solutions, prioritizing projects, documenting projects, maintaining the status, and communicating status to client and lab stakeholders. 
  • Serve as primary technical liaison to the client and laboratory leadership team.  Work closely with the client and Eurofins team to develop, optimize, and transfer new methods into routine production.  Maintain an "issues log", prioritize the projects per client and laboratory needs, ensure each member of the team is clear on assignments and priorities, and allocate resources of the team.   Track and report status of projects and updates to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the Special Projects Team is focused on coaching, mentoring, and transferring knowledge to future team members and laboratory individual contributors to bolster the overall technical expertise of the lab, and to establish potential successors to senior-level scientists.
  • Oversee the Quality Assurance Team and lead the efforts of ensuring that quality compliance requirements are met and sustained, to include document control, training, and CAPA.   Work with the Eurofins site leadership team to create QA metrics to measure and report the effectiveness of the QA Team in various categories such as non-conformances, training, document control, and CAPAs.   Ensure that the Quality Assurance Team is serving the operations team in a collaborative and supportive manner.   
  • Through both the Special Projects Team and the Quality Assurance Team, lead technical investigations and supply technical information to CAPA-writers in order to close CAPAs within prescribed timeframe.
  • Spend hands-on-time in the lab with lab personnel.  Perform instrument calibration, troubleshooting, recognize errors, identify root causes, and maintain excellent working knowledge of laboratory processes and instrumentation.   Serve as instrumentation SME, and coach/mentor junior analysts.
  • Apply the highest quality standard in all areas of responsibility; maintain ISO 17025 quality standards and accreditation for the laboratory.  Demonstrate strong client service skills, teamwork, and collaboration.  Proactively plan and maximize productivity. 
  • Conduct semiannual performance reviews, interview applicants, keep training records up to date for assigned employees, perform succession planning in preparation for growth.  Confront and address employee-related problems, concerns, and performance issues.  Perform other administrative management duties as needed.
  • Support and promote company policies and procedures

Qualifications
  • In-depth experience with chromatography  (LC, LCMS, GC, GCMS, IC, ICPMS). 
  • Strong analytical method development expertise
  • 6+ years of industry LC and LCMS method development/validation required 
  • 4-year degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline required; advanced degree preferred
  • Understanding of production laboratory operations
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
