POSITION SUMMARY

The Laundry Attendant maintains a constant supply of clean linens for the hotel. Performs all stages of linen processing including collecting, transporting, sorting, weighing, loading, and unloading (washers, dryers and chutes) ironing, folding, storing, and delivering. Maintains organization and sanitizing or the laundry machinery and laundry area.

This is a nonexempt (hourly paid) position.

This position requires all shifts including, days, weekends, and Holidays.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Retrieve linen and towels from guest rooms, public spaces, and other areas of the hotel as directed.
  2. Sort, load, unload, fold, and press linen and other items according to hotel standard and company expectation.
  3. Operate washing, drying, and pressing equipment according to instruction, following all applicable safety standards and using PPE if necessary.
  4. Always maintain cleanliness and organization of laundry room.
  5. Inspect linen and towels for stains, tears, or other imperfections to ensure guest satisfaction. Report or log deficiencies to the Executive Housekeeper, Housekeeping Supervisor or General Manager immediately.
  6. Effectively communicate with hotel departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
  7. Always maintain professionalism consistent with hotel and company expectations.
  8. Secure and maintain custody of equipment, keys, and supplies.
  9. Properly handle, label and store cleaning supplies.
  10. Assist with monthly linen inventory.
  11. Ensure proper storage and security of the laundry area and supplies at all times.
  12. Always maintain positive guest relations, friendly and professional communication, and excellent guest service.
  13. Respond to guest requests and inquiries immediately.
  14. Responsible for thoroughly cleaning/sanitizing laundry to be guest ready and returning laundered items to housekeeping or other departments within specified time and accuracy per brand standards and best practices set forth by management.
  15. Replenish laundered items according to operational standards.
  16. Report any discrepancies or department needs to the General Manager.
  17. May assist in providing training to new or existing staff with training needs as directed by management.
  18. Performs other duties as required, including cross training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS


  1. 2-4 years' experience in the hospitality industry in housekeeping highly preferred.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent required.
  3. Work experience as a Laundry Attendant, room attendant, housekeeper or maid preferred.
  4. Experience with industrial cleaning equipment, chemicals and products.
  5. Able to squat, kneel, twist, bend and crouch.
  6. Able to work in confined spaces with fluctuating temperatures.
  7. Able to tolerate exposure to dust and cleaning chemicals and follow all safety precautions and use all safety equipment.
  8. Able to lift, push, pull and carry a minimum weight of approximately 30-50lbs.
  9. Able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
  10. Must possess a thorough knowledge of principles of effective business and guest service relations with excellent customer service at all times.
  11. Must possess ability to maintain effective and quality work performance consistently.
  12. Must possess a thorough understanding of hotel regulations, operational processes, policies and obligations.
  13. Must exhibit performance of which position requires for effectiveness and efficiency in the daily, weekly, and monthly expectations.

  23. Must successfully pass background check and any other pre-employment requirements specific to your role.
  24. Must be able to operate office equipment, as appropriate.
  25. Willing to work beyond normal working hours, weekends, holidays, and/or on other shifts and in other positions, when necessary
  26. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently and comprehensibly enough to perform the essential functions of the job
