JOB SUMMARY
The Laundry Aide is responsible for providing clean linens and utility for use by the nursing department, and to wash and care for the personal laundry of the resident.
SCOPE
The Laundry Aide reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor. They have close contact with staff and occasional contact with residents and family. No positions report to the Laundry Aide.
MAJOR AREAS OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sorts Soiled Facility Laundry
- Sort soiled facility laundry according to departmental procedure or routine.
- Washes and Folds Laundry
- Pretreat and wash laundry. Operate commercial washing and drying machines. The Laundry Aide folds or hangs towels, bibs, linens, and clothing according to departmental guidelines.
- Delivers Laundry to Resident and Station
- Fill the linen carts with the clean utility and clothing. Deliver the cleaned items to each Nursing Station or resident’s room.
- Labels and Mends Laundry
- Label clothing for the resident and mends and irons clothing as needed.
- Maintains Work Area
- Cleans the laundry area by cleaning lint traps, mopping floor, washing laundry cart, machines, sinks, tables, and tubs.
- Other Duties As Assigned
- May assist with housekeeping duties. Understand and follow all applicable infection control procedures. In the event of a fire or other emergency, he/she may assist with resident evacuation. They attend in-service opportunities and other work related meetings as required. They assist with or carry out special projects as needed by the Housekeeping Supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS
Requires high school training and an ability to work cooperatively with staff, residents, and family. Must have an ability to work independently and as a team.
