WHAT TO EXPECT
The automotive industry has entered into a new and exciting era of electric vehicle engineering. As a result, JLR are broadening its focus to include electrification technology, which is the future of passenger vehicle propulsion.
The JLR Battery Assembly Centre (BAC) will be the company's first foray into what is the largest transformational change in the 120-year history of automobile manufacturing. As a BAC team member, you will be playing a fundamental part in this historic change, as we will supply for the first time, both electric and hybrid electric battery packs for JLR vehicle plants.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in Laser Welding commissioning and programming
- Aid weld implementation of future model launches and process improvements
- Continuous process optimisation in current production
- Understand weld schedule development and produce/maintain Welding Procedure Specification (WPS)
- Produce visual standard for weld quality control
- Implement weld control plans and requirements
- Lead and assist production in all quality and process related weld topics and issues
- Support production on a daily basis in troubleshooting difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures
- Support and perform weld training to maintenance technicians and operators
- Project management: both internal maintenance projects and major contractor projects
- Procedure & PMs, develop & maintain proper documentation of all necessary procedure4s; periodic maintenance tasks, process control, etc
- Define spare parts and consumables
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical engineering or equivalent or have you served an engineering automotive apprenticeship
- Ability to work shifts on company requirements. (earlies, afternoons and nights)
- High attention to details
- Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) manual welding experience
Desirable:
- Operating Laser Welding machines
- Battery welding
- Laser in-process monitoring and optimisation i.e. Laser Welding Monitoring (LWM) or Laser Depth Dynamics (LDD)
