As the HVL Laser Operator at Husqvarna Construction, you are responsible for utilizing tooling, equipment and materials in the automated assembly cells of the high-volume line to fully assemble all segmented diamond blades. This position is critical for production of segmented diamond blades.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Methods:
- Radius grinding of segments
- Laser welding of segments to cores
- Sharpening and exposure grinding of blades
- Follow company policies to ensure compliance of EPA and environmental regulations in the segmented diamond blade process
- Follow company policies to ensure compliance of OSHA safety and health regulations in the segmented diamond blade process
Machinery:
- Organization and selection of proper tooling to fulfill work requirements
- Maintain specialized knowledge and familiarity with manufacturing equipment operation
- Cleaning of equipment for preparation of subsequent orders
- Set up and adjustment of radius grinder, laser welding machine and sharpening machine parameters
Measurements:
- Perform in-process quality checks on segments that include micrometer measurement of height, thickness and fit of radius to blade core
- Torque testing and visual inspection of weld joints for cosmetic appearance and structural integrity
- Quality checks on segmented diamond blades to include gauge measurement of side clearance
- Record quality and order completion data
- Evaluate and confer with Quality Control on manufacturing process inspection techniques and standards

CRITICAL FUNCTIONAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
- Solid knowledge of basic industrial math
- Working knowledge of the metric system of weights and measurements
- Working knowledge of using micrometer for measurements
- Working knowledge of using torque wrench
- Working knowledge of laser welding technique
EDUCATION, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE:
- High school or equivalent
- Previous working experience with CNC equipment preferred
- Ability to lift, push/pull and stand for long periods
- Strong basic math skills necessary
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Above average exposure to manufacturing environment
- Job tasks will require contact with powder metal segments, sharp edges on machined components, powdered metal dusts and grime associated with manufacturing operations
- Must wear PPE in compliance with OSHA regulations
- Frequently lifting up to 30 lbs and occasional lifting up to 40 lbs
- Occasionally push/pull up to 15 lbs
- Walking and standing for long periods of time on concrete floors (full shifts)
- Daily, weekly, monthly and annual deadlines
