REPORTS TO: Director of Instructional Services
DEFINITION: Under general supervision, administers, scores and documents language tests for Somerton School District No. 11.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

TASKS:
Administers initial and reassessment tests to identify student language aptitude; scores tests utilizing Idea Proficiency Tests guidelines; provides results to appropriate staff for proper classroom placement of students; documents results as required by state and Federal guidelines; communicates with parents, teachers and staff members regarding student test scores, designation and exiting.
Prepares testing roster for assessment; collects testing materials; works with teachers to develop testing schedule; prepares parent notification; types and word processes a variety of documents in support of function; enters student information into database; maintains files on students; assists migrant program with interviewing and preparing documentation; and performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of language testing methods and techniques.
Knowledge of Federal, state and District guidelines and regulations governing language aptitude testing.
Knowledge of modrn office practices, principles and methods.
Knowledge of Spanish and English pronunciation, grammar and usage.
Skill in administering and scoring language tests.
Skill in the use of a personal computer and related software.
Skill in speaking, reading and writing Spanish and English.
Skill in following oral and written instructions.
Skill in verbal and written communication.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent walking, sitting, repetitive motion and vision to monitor.
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent, and three (3) years educational experience working with children. May be required to possess or obtain Language Assessment Certification. Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.
