The Richmond and Henrico County Health Districts (RHHD) are a part of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and strive to expose and address the root causes of health disparities, protect health by preventing the spread of disease, and build health equity by partnering with communities and working collaboratively across sectors. The Richmond and Henrico Health Districts are seeking a Language Access Planner to help guide the Districts in the creation of its first comprehensive Language Access Plan. This plan would set out best practices for RHHD, covering interpretation, translation, transcreation, signage, print materials, social media, and more.

Specifically, the Language Access Planner will collect information by auditing RHHD’s existing processes and materials, interviewing staff, planning and hosting internal feedback sessions, and creating and deploying surveys. Based on this information—and industry best practices—the planner will create a Language Access Plan for the Districts. The Planner will also solicit feedback from staff on the Language Access Plan, make revisions based on that feedback, and help train staff on the finalized plan. Through out this process, the Planner will manage complex timelines and work with multiple stakeholders. The Planner will also have some day-to-day translation responsibilities.

Remote work options available. Pay range: $20-25/hr.

Minimum qualifications

• Fluent Spanish speaker
• Ability to work on diverse projects with multiple stakeholders and diverse timelines.
• Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously with limited supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to distill and effectively summarize information from a diverse group of people and/or sources.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
