The Landscape Design Manager position is a mid-level position responsible for creative planning of theme park master plans, attraction layouts, set designs, area development, hardscape and landscape details. This role typically involves working closely with creative directors, creative managers, and technical designers to develop detailed master plans in both 2D CAD and 3D modeling software. The Landscape Design Manager will be required to collaborate frequently with interdisciplinary creative and technical teams, both in-house and with specialist subconsultants to meet design goals.
Essential Functions:
- Area Development Design
- Development of planting, hardscape, grading, and other landscape architecture plans
- Ability to design and understand planting and environmental design constraints in various locations of the world
- Prepare and manage the Landscape Design packaging of lands and whole projects. Supervise the implementation of design both internal and with external design consultants
- Master Planning
- Work along with Master Planning team to design master plans in both 2D plans and 3D model development using Auto CAD ArcGIS and other tools to support the project.
- Analyze and revise park designs for functional operations and logistics considerations.
- Assist in planning exercises, considering guest circulation and physical placemaking.
- Integrate and work with Utility and Infrastructure Plans. Manage and incorporate the work of external Consultants.
- Attraction Design
- Collaborate with attraction designers to resolve access, adjacencies, circulation, servicing and technical details in conjunction with project master plans
- Develop ride and show plans of attraction systems within the master plan integrating service and operational access.
- Project Management
- Participate in cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects.
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables related to Landscape Design.
- Develop detailed project schedules, milestones, and timelines related to Landscape Design.
- Assemble documentation into presentations and be able to present in front of Clients and Stakeholders.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Facilitate meetings, presentations, and discussions to share plans, progress, and updates.
- Address any issues or roadblocks that may arise during the planning and execution phases.
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Design, Themed Entertainment Design or related field.
- 3-5 years of professional experience in creative design and park planning for full theme park projects and attraction designs.
- Strong architectural and artistic skillset to design guest spaces and communicate creative intent.
- Work independently on document production and take the lead when necessary, managing multiple project workstreams to ensure milestones and production timelines are met.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, as well as 3D rendering programs and MS Office is required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership capacity and ability to guide and manage interdisciplinary teams and specialist subconsultants.
- Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and practices.
- Must have or be able to quickly acquire knowledge of company structure (mission, goals, and objectives), and policies and procedures.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States of America.
