Job description

Purpose
Assist in the execution of technical activities required on assigned projects and apply Landscape Architecture technical policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
  • Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially on difficult assignments and possible solutions. Work is completed using standard techniques and design principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement.

At the Operational and Company Level
  • Work closely with more senior staff members to learn about and assist with Landscape Architecture work.

Essential Job Functions
  • Assist in the execution of technical activities required on assigned projects utilizing understanding of the Landscape Architecture technical policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership in project design, production, and management.
  • Design strategies to address client budgets and needs.
  • Direct the execution of Landscape Architectural design processes on assigned projects.
  • Consult with clients, engineers, and architects on specifications and needs of overall project.
  • Assure that onsite inspections are performed during construction and design requirements are coordinated with contractors and equipment suppliers.
  • Review proposed design change orders and make recommendations as needed.
  • Actively participate in professional organizations where the technical reputation and image of the company may be enhanced.
  • Utilize and assist less experienced staff in understanding technical policies and procedures during the execution of projects for clients.

Education, Work Experience, Licensure/Certifications, and Technical Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture plus two years of experience performing the duties of a Landscape Architect OR
  • Master's degree in Landscape Architecture.

Special Skills Required
  • Experience with or academic classwork in:
  • Design and CADD drafting
  • Graphic programs including Adobe suite (Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator)
  • AutoCAD
  • ArcGIS
  • Rhino
  • 3D Maxwell
  • Construction
  • Must hold a valid state driver's license and successfully pass a motor vehicle check.

Physical Demands and Working Environment
  • Partially indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
  • Partially outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
  • Mobility around an office environment.
  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.

Employee Referral Award Program
The "Employee Referral Award Program" offers an award payment once a referral has been hired by Bowman. $2,500 bonus will be paid when the new hire has completed ninety (90) days of employment, and the balance will be paid when the new hire has successfully completed ninety (90) calendar days of employment. Referrals are only valid for a period of three (3) months from the date of receipt. All employees are eligible to participate in the referral program except for Principals of the firm, Executives, Directors, Branch Managers, Department Heads, managers to whom the position reports either directly or indirectly, and the Human Resources Department. Refer to Employee Referral Policy in Section 105 of the Bowman Employee Handbook for complete details.
