Position Overview: As a Quarry Laborer at our Medina Quarry in Hondo, Texas, you'll play a vital role in supporting the safe and efficient operation of our quarry. Your responsibilities will include engaging in physical labor tasks, operating equipment, handling materials, assisting with maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols to uphold the high standards of Vulcan Materials Company.
Location: Medina Quarry - Hondo, Texas
Shift: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Saturday
Key Responsibilities:Promote Safety: Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout quarry operations for yourself and others, adhering to MSHA and Vulcan standards at all times.Perform Physical Labor: Engage in manual labor tasks such as digging, shoveling, lifting, and carrying materials to support quarry operations.Equipment Operation: Safely operate machinery and equipment such as loaders, excavators, bulldozers, and dump trucks to transport materials within the quarry and load them onto trucks for transportation.Material Handling: Assist with the movement, storage, and processing of raw materials and finished products within the quarry, including loading and unloading trucks and conveyor belts.Maintenance Assistance: Support maintenance personnel in servicing, repairing, and adjusting machinery and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation, contributing to minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.Cleaning and Maintenance: Keep work areas clean and organized, including sweeping, washing, and maintaining equipment and facilities, to ensure a safe and productive work environment.Inspection and Reporting: Conduct routine inspections of equipment, structures, and work areas to identify and report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or maintenance needs promptly.Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participating in safety training programs.Teamwork and Communication: Collaborate with quarry supervisors, operators, and other team members to coordinate work activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure efficient quarry operations.Skills You'll Need:- Previous experience in a similar role within the quarry, construction, or related industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with industrial tools, equipment operation, and maintenance practices.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and tolerate loud noises.
