- Position Summary:
- The LABORATORY TECHNICIAN performs a variety of laboratory tests, procedures and related duties, in order to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, by following established standards and practices. The LABORATORY TECHNICIAN is responsible for the orderly processing of patient specimens during the assigned work shift. This includes specimen collection, testing, processing, and reporting of accurate results. Includes issue resolution in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases. Maintains active communication and strengthens collaborative relationships among the pathologists, medical staff, nursing units, and other laboratory staff. This position is intended to be a training position while employee is obtaining Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification.
- POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Completion of approved Medical Laboratory Technician program within 2 years of acceptance of this position.
- Minimum Experience
- Six months experience in laboratory.
