Laboratory Technician

Argonics, an industry-leading manufacturer of cast polyurethane products, has an immediate opening to join our team at our Gwinn / Sawyer location.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

· Assist manager with daily operating tasks as they arise throughout the plant including physical testing & lab testing measures, technical support of the polyurethane process and daily service measures

· Assist and support both Polyurethane Train and Plant Equipment Maintenance Sections with specialized services training to be provided by department

· Responsible for data entry on routine physical property testing in the Lab

· Incoming quality testing from various chemical suppliers with routine pre-production lot gallon sample verification, screening and analysis, dispenser calibrations

· Involved with maintenance PM’s, grounds and upkeep outside job functions including landscaping, cutting grass, raking leaves, planting plants & snow removal per the Argonics internal snow removal plan

· Data entry using Excel and other methods

· Tensile Testing utilizing the MTS Tensile Testing Machine

· Durometer Testing Daily & Catalyst & Pigment mixing & distribution for all dispensers

· % NCO Testing utilizing chemical hood, pipette, beakers & other delicate glassware

· Viscosity Testing utilizing Brookfield Viscometer

· MSDS Logging and record keeping of Certificates of Analysis

· Continuously seek to upgrade and improve the physical testing and chemical process by providing regular technical and procedural insight and collaboration to the manager and other technical team members

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Desired 2 years documented industrial work or construction experience, technical certificates a plus
• Background in technology, science, maintenance or related technical discipline beneficial
• Must be flexible to adjust work schedule in critical times of need

· Must be self-starter who is very goal oriented

• Written and verbal communications skills along with technical and scientific aptitude a plus
• Take a hands on approach to solving problems and working in the lab & plant
• Interact well with other team players and have strong multi-tasking skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Must have a positive attitude and be creative
• Ability to perform physical work

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
