Position: Laboratory Technician
Responsibilities
- Execute laboratory work according to standard operating procedures (SOP), make observations and interpret findings
- Record all laboratory data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility in the LIMS in a timely manner
- Prepare reports, reviews and summaries as required
- Maintain laboratory equipment by following operating instructions and proper cleaning of the equipment and the laboratory space
- Maintain supplies and call for repairs
- Assist in keeping laboratory supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Prepare for, and face internal and external audits as required from time to time
- Contribute to process improvements and optimisation
Requirements
- 8 to 10 years experience in operating laboratory equipment like Biosafety, centrifuge, PCR, microscope etc is an advantage.
- Must have Knowledge of quality, health, safety and environment systems, preventative measures and laboratory best practices
- Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and database systems
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
- Degree in biotechnology or microbiology with a specialisation in genetics
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $18.41 - $25.00 per hour
