Responsibilities.
- Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment such as glasses, metal instruments, sinks, tables and test panels; ensure that an adequate clean inventory is available for immediate usage
- Prepare media and mix solutions
- Give food, water and medications to laboratory animals as prescribed

- Segregate clean, process and return cleaned items to designated stock shelves
- Maintain adequate levels of glassware items for laboratories
- Maintain a supply of clean glassware and commonly used laboratory supplies
- Clean and sterilize glassware, plastic ware and hand instruments as appropriate
- Keep glassware rooms clean and organized
- Assist with cleaning, organizing and other administrative tasks
- Maintain the autoclave facility and common equipment rooms
- Maintain clean and orderly workspace in the laboratory
- Plan schedules for autoclaving and decontamination to be certain that all research groups are always adequately stocked with sterile equipment
- Communicate with the lab staff daily to ensure their needs are being met
- Keep staff updated on issues and problems pertaining to glassware procedures and needed repairs to equipment and prepare inspection reports
Qualifications.
- High School diploma is preferred
- At least 5 years of relative experience working in a laboratory and adhering to safety guidelines preferred
- Knowledge of autoclave for sterilizing and related washing machinery, for glass use
