About the BWS Laboratory Analyst Position
General Description and Responsibilities and Duties in Brief
The BWS Laboratory Analyst position is a full-time position with duty hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday or, second shift 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday through Friday.
The BWS Laboratory Analyst performs multi-pathogen testing on environmental, potable, and non-potable water samples. Steps to accomplish this include sample receipt and documentation, accurate sample labeling and organization, DNA purification, multi-pathogen quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting of results to management through specified means. The holder of this position will manage daily laboratory operations at one of the BWS laboratories in the greater New York City area.

Education/Experience
Associate degree with more than 5 years of experience
Bachelor’s Degree with more than 3 years of experience
Master’s Degree
Or, equivalent combination of education and experience
Degree must be in molecular biology, biology, chemistry, or equivalent science-related field.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs routine testing of environmental samples received from clients.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
Prepares and maintains chemical solutions required for testing using standardized formulas or SOPs.
Proactively ensures test method is actionable by checking and maintaining inventory of reagents and consumables required to execute test method; orders additional material if needed.
Ensures laboratory trash and expired reagents are disposed of properly.
Help in maintaining assigned laboratory equipment and performs verifications or maintenance when needed.
Analyze and report data using equipment outputs, email, and other standard software and online collaboration platforms.
Reports and documents any deviations upon finding.
Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Adjusts work hours as needed to meet client deadlines.
Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner by adhering to site environmental health and safety (EHS) requirements.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Understands and follows all procedures and processes required for work and performs all duties in strict compliance with BWS’s approved methods.
Familiarity with QMS, GLP, ISO 9001, ISO17025, CDC ELITE, etc.
Effectively documents sample analysis execution, including necessary reagent calculations, by following good documentation practices.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.87 - $27.54 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
