Laboratory Aide

Tangram Chemical, a TCPA Company is a manufacturer of High Purity Inorganic Chemicals and a provider of Custom Chemical Services is looking for a Laboratory Aide in Holtsville, NY.

Under direct supervision, the Laboratory Aideprovides routine assistance in the performance of laboratory tests and/or research. Washes glassware and stocks laboratory facilities, equipment, and supplies as appropriate, and may keep routine records and reports on laboratory results according to established procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Receive / Log / Discard /Archive samples.

· Receive / Log / Discard reagents and chemicals.

· Transports laboratory materials and/or specimens to the sample library (as required).

· Wash glassware and store laboratory equipment, facilities, and supplies after completion of laboratory testing (as required).

· Practices safety, using environmentally conscious methods.

· Perform basic testing on equipment cleaning samples.

· Calibrate Scales.

· Remove / Discard expired reagents from the laboratory.

· Foreign Matter inspection.

· Water content determination by moisture balance and Karl Fisher.

· Cleaning filter crucibles.

· Preparation of Standards, Volumetric Solutions, Indicators etc.

· Laboratory housekeeping.

· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· A minimum of one year of college chemistry or other science. Individual must be organized and able to maintain detailed data records.

· Be able to follow instructions.

· Be able to lift 50 pounds.

· Neat handwriting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Must be able and comfortable with MULTITASKING in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.

Must be able to communicate clearly with others while performing shared tasks or tasks that impact another person’s work.
